Hybrid setting- will start fully onsite but will be hybrid eventually

Purpose Statement: Performs complex payroll processes and tasks and serves as a payroll subject matter expert. (UNION AND NON UNION)

RESPONSIBILITIES

Complex Payroll Activities

  • Act as subject matter expert on payroll, including some system troubleshooting and responding to internal questions.
  • May process Staff or complex Union payrolls.
  • Read & apply union contract provisions.
  • Organize detailed requirements per union.
  • Participate in internal and external payroll audits as needed.
  • Assist in reconciling payroll accounts to GL and union reports.
  • Back up Payroll Accountants as needed.

Day to Day Payroll Activities

  • Perform complex payroll processing, including, but not limited to:
  • Import files from timesheet system o Run and post payroll, using multiple systems o Set up union pay rates and standard costs into payroll system per union contracts
  • Compute wage and overtime payments (automated and manual) o Analyze payroll input for reasonableness and oddities that may indicate errors in payroll data
  • Understand relationships between data fields in multiple systems o Understand and apply job costing principles to payroll input o Process requests for paycheck advances o Complete union reporting.
  • Follow established processes to maintain system data including o Rate changes o Garnishments o Union dues o 401k o Vacation funds o Other deductions
  • Participate in process improvement efforts
  • Provide customer service that consistently meets and/or exceeds customer expectations.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE and ABILITIES

  • Must have demonstrated general proficiency with respect to the responsibilities of a Sr. Payroll Coordinator.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Visio required; working knowledge of SharePoint preferred. (v-Lookups and pivot tables preferred)
  • Understanding of end to end payroll processing required.
  • Six (6) years of payroll experience required, union payroll experience strongly preferred.
  • AA degree in business, accounting or equivalent experience in bookkeeping preferred.
  • CPP certification preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
  • The ability to work overtime when required.
