The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Summary:

The Pathologists' Assistant is a highly trained, certified allied health professional who is qualified by academic and practical training to provide services in Anatomic Pathology under the supervision of a licensed, board-certified, or board-eligible Anatomic Pathologist,

PAs ensure accurate, efficient and high quality specimen processing to support timely diagnosis and optimal patient care,

The PA performs gross examination and prepares tissue for a multitude of pathologic tests, including but not limited to histology, frozen sections, immunohistochemistry, immunofluoresence, electron microscopy, and flow cytometry as well as specimen triage and accessioning,

The position requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team,

Essential Functions

• Perform gross examination of simple to complex surgical pathology specimen
• Perform frozen sections, specimen triage, and occasional accessioning
• Ensure proper specimen and chemical handling, storage, labeling and documentation
• Perform routine equipment maintenance and gross room upkeep
• Photograph and weigh specimen as requested
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental needs

Education

• Masters degree in Pathologists' Assistant Studies or equivalent preferred
• Minimum of an associate degree including at least 24 semester hours of biological science is required
• Certification
• ASCP certification as a Pathologists' Assistant is preferred

Experience

• Minimum 1-2 years experience is preferred
• New Pathologists' Assistant grads welcome to apply

Work Conditions

• No weekend or on call responsibilitites
• No Autopsy Duties
• Requires handling of biological specimen with appropriate PPE
