The Driver Safety Trainer is responsible for overseeing the training of new and existing drivers across all classes of vehicles, collaborates with the maintenance team, and provides support for vehicle coordination and scheduling.

The Driver Safety Trainer is responsible for overseeing the training of new and existing drivers across all classes of vehicles, collaborates with the maintenance team, and provides support for vehicle coordination and scheduling.

This role involves managing driver training activities, ensuring vehicle safety and maintenance, and coordinating vehicle operations in collaboration with various teams and stakeholders. This role also provides driver support to other teams in the organization when needed.

Job Roles

Work with Transportation Manager to create a driver safety training program.
Conduct driver training sessions for new and existing drivers on safe driving practices and coach drivers on myriad ways to improve/avoid.
Maintain accurate records of all driver training activities and certifications.
Collaborate with teams to understand their specific driving needs and tailor training programs accordingly.
Utilize DriveCam software to monitor and provide diagnostic feedback and specific improvements needed for drivers to reduce overall incidents and improve safety.
Provide driver insights to their supervisors in an effort to enhance and improve overall operational efficiency and safety.
Coach drivers on improving their driving skills and addressing safety concerns.
Ensure all drivers adhere to safety regulations and company policies.
Collaborate with diverse teams to tailor training programs to meet specific driving needs.
Collaborate with the Maintenance Coordinator to ensure effective communication of vehicle inspection results and address safety issues promptly.
Coordinate with maintenance team to prioritize and address vehicle service and repair needs.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to enhance driver safety and maintenance procedures.
Assist in tracking and confirming the scheduling of vehicles, including dispatching as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned to support overall operational efficiency, including driver support.

Experience/Specialized skills (including Language)

5 years’ transportation experience required.
3 years’ experience in a training capacity required; driving training and coaching highly preferred.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and individuals.
Proficiency in using DriveCam software or similar tools such as SmartDrive.
Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in driver training.
Understanding vehicle maintenance procedures and safety standards.
Experience in vehicle coordination scheduling, and dispatching is a plus.
Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.

Education/Certifications/Licenses/Registrations

High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
Or equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the skills, knowledge, and ability to perform the essential job duties, and which meets any required state or federal certification requirements.
Current American Heart Association Heart saver CPR AED Certification required within 90 days of employment.
Traveling between sites and other locations is required as an essential function of the job. Must have a car, a valid California driver’s license, and proof of minimum levels of car insurance as required under California law, although limits of $100,000 are recommended. An acceptable driving record is also required. California law requires all drivers to obtain a valid California driver’s license within ten days of establishing residency. Mileage and other reimbursement governed by policy.
Must successfully enroll/become enrolled in the DMV pull program and meet organizational driving requirements prior to start date.

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base range for this position, exclusive of fringe benefits.

$25.75 - $35.39

If you are hired at Family Health Centers of San Diego, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, jurisdictional requirements, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to these factors – we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is what we reasonably expect to pay for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
