Job Description

PURPOSE: The Barback serves guests and assist the Bar, Kitchen and Dining Room teams while providing prompt service and genuine hospitality to everyone. They must maintain stock, set up, and cleanliness of all bar areas. The have a deep understanding of the technical relationship between the bar, kitchen, and dining room. They must perform duties in a pleasant, conscientious, fun, energetic and professional manner to ensure guest satisfaction. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and property policies, practices, procedures, techniques, as outlined in the service manual.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Greet guests in a positive, friendly manner with eye contact and intention 
• Communicates the needs of guests to co-workers, kitchen, and management.
• Actively participate and contribute to pre-shift meetings
• Execute water service and serve non-alcoholic drinks as necessary
• Consistently follow sequence of service utilizing all proper procedures standardized by the room management.
• Basic understanding of all food and beverage items and specifications
• Daily prep of all garnishes, syrups, and other ingredients for service to spec
• Cleanliness and organization of liquor and beer storage areas
• Ensures proper set up, labeling, stocking and delivery of alcohol, non-alcoholic beverages, supplies, glasses, paper products, garnishes, and ice. 
• Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items, liquor brands, beers and non-alcoholic selections available in the assigned outlet. 
• Completes tasks which include: checking quality and amount of all bar stock and supplies through checklist; setting up bottles in display cabinet and speed rail; checking condition and cleanliness of blender, shaker and other tools; checking temperature/chemical levels of refrigeration units, glass wash machine, and sanitation buckets. 
• Assists with moving chairs and tables as needed based on the floor plan 
• Responsible for performing table maintenance by checking on the guest throughout service.
• Completing opening and closing side work.
• Maintaining health code standards.
• Maintain table cleanliness utilizing a silent service approach.
• Bid farewell to guests, using guest’s name when known, and encourage them to return.
• Maintain a level of professionalism.
• Anticipate the guests’ needs and responding appropriately with a sense of urgency.
• Work as a team, assisting all guests’ and employees’ needs and inquiries.
• Perform all other job-related duties as requested.
• Be familiar with all Hotel services/ features and local attractions/ activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
