Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and passionate Substitute Teachers to provide high school-level instruction to adult learners (18+). This role involves delivering instruction in both online and in-person settings across various locations in California, including Nevada County, Riverside County, Monterey County, Kern County, Los Angeles County (Antelope Valley), Merced County, Ventura County, and Butte County. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching diverse student populations and be comfortable utilizing a combination of synchronous and asynchronous instruction methods.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging, multi-subject lessons tailored to a diverse student population.
Develop and implement lesson plans in accordance with educational standards.
Utilize the Canvas learning management system for online instruction.
Assess and evaluate student performance through assignments, projects, and tests.
Maintain accurate and timely student records, including grading in the Aeries student information system.
Provide students with guidance on career opportunities, employment options, and continuing education.
Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for students from various cultural, linguistic, and economic backgrounds.
Encourage students to uphold classroom behavior standards.
Participate in the development of innovative learning activities and strategies.
Adhere to core organizational values and educational best practices.
Qualifications & Skills:
Understanding of policies and procedures related to educational instruction.
Strong classroom management and student engagement skills.
Ability to assess and analyze student data for instructional improvements.
Excellent organizational, time management, and record-keeping skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and learning management systems.
Ability to adapt to and effectively use various educational technologies.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and collaborate effectively in a team setting.
Requirements:
Clearance for tuberculosis (TB) screening prior to employment.
Background clearance from the Department of Justice (DOJ).
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree required.
Valid 30-Day Substitute Permit, Multiple Subject, or Single Subject Teaching Credential required.
Experience working with rural or farm-working communities is a plus but not required.
Certifications & Training:
Food Handler's Certificate (or completion within 30 days of hire).
Child Care Provider Mandated Reporter Certificate (or completion within 90 days of hire).
Travel Requirements:
Must be able to travel as needed.
Language Skills:
Bilingual in Spanish is preferred but not required.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Frequent use of hands for typing, writing, and handling instructional materials.
Regular standing, sitting, walking, and occasional kneeling or crouching.
Ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs frequently, and up to 40 lbs occasionally.
Prolonged periods working on a computer.
