Job Description

Mondly is a language learning app with over 1 million active users worldwide. We offer 40+ languages with the industry’s largest number of language pairs, and have been recognized with awards including “Best New App” by Apple, “App of the Year” in EMEA by Facebook, and “Editors’ Choice” by Google.

Our platform serves learners across all skill levels, from complete beginners to advanced speakers looking to maintain fluency. We focus on practical, conversation-based learning that gets people speaking from day one.

About the role

We’re looking for a Product Designer to join our team of 4 designers and own how learners find content and track their progress. After a major redesign over the past 2 years, we’re focused on building a differentiated product that serves committed learners who want real results.

You’ll be designing the systems that help users discover learning activities tailored to their level and interests, plus the interfaces where they track their learning journey and see their improvements over time. These are two critical parts of the experience that directly impact retention and learning outcomes.

The role is fully remote! So you can do your best work from wherever you feel most inspired.

What you’ll do

Core Design Work:

· Own the end-to-end design process for feature discovery and progress tracking features

· Create detailed designs in Figma and prototypes for testing and development handoff

· Work within and evolve our existing design system

· Design for mobile-first experiences across iOS and Android

Research & Strategy:

· Conduct user interviews and usability testing to validate design decisions

· Run A/B tests to measure impact and iterate on solutions

· Translate business goals and user needs into product solutions

· Present design rationale and findings to stakeholders

Collaboration:

· Partner closely with a product manager and an engineering team

· Work in 2-week sprints with regular design reviews

· Elevate the design practice and be an advocate for design within organization

What we’re looking for

Experience:

· Previous experience designing digital products, preferably consumer focused

· Strong portfolio showing your process and impact, not just final designs

· Experience with design systems and mobile design patterns

· Track record of using research to inform design decisions

· Bonus: experience with branding and visual design

Skills:

· Expert-level Figma skills

· Experience designing for both engagement and learning outcomes

· Comfortable presenting and defending design decisions with data and research

· Ability to balance user needs with business constraints

Mindset:

· You care about craft AND business impact

· You’re comfortable with ambiguity and can drive clarity

· You enjoy working on problems that affect how people learn

· You want to work on a product that people use daily for months

Why this role

· Real Impact: Your designs directly affect how millions of people learn languages

· Design Maturity: Join a team that values research-driven design and has executive buy-in

· Growth Opportunity: Shape the direction of key product areas as we scale

· Strong Team: Work with experienced designers who care about their work, but are also fun to hang out with.

· Flexibility: Remote-first culture with competitive compensation
