Locum - Neonatology MD/DO - Fredericksburg, VA

Board eligible or board-certified Neonatologist for the Level III NICU. Team that will support this community hospital’s goal of keeping baby and family together as well as close to home. Top three strategic initiatives are to incrementally increase NICU volumes and acuity and promote breastfeeding after delivery with outpatient lactation support. The top quality initiatives that the hospital will be focusing on are obtaining Baby Friendly status and having zero percent mortality and CLABSI rates.

Opportunity Details:

• Staffing Model: 2 Neonatologists, 4.5 NNPs
• Coverage includes:
  • Collaborative care of the newborn nursery and Level III NICU patients with the NNP during the day
  • NNP in-house at night with Neo on call
  • Attendance at deliveries
  • Education of RN/RTs as volume/acuity goes up
• Schedule:
  • Week on/off
  • Call from home
• SRMC Info:
  • 8-bed Level III NICU;
  • 10 LDR (couplet care rooms for newborns)
  • Average daily census NICU/Nursery: 9-11
  • Annual Deliveries: 1,250
  • In-house OB Hospitalists

Facility Information

General acute care hospital with 133-beds, all in private rooms, and a wide range of in- and outpatient medical services including 24-hr emergency room, advanced technology operating rooms, cancer care center, advanced imaging (CT, MRI, and nuclear medicine), heart and vascular care, obstetrics, neonatal, and psychiatric care.
