Job Description

Our client in the automotive industry is seeking an experienced Cost Accountant to support key accounting functions and ensure accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong cost accounting and manufacturing accounting experience, along with a solid understanding of accounting principles.

The Cost Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate accounts receivable and supporting cash expense processes. This role includes managing overseas supplier invoicing, preparing journal entries, supporting audits, generating financial reports, and assisting with various accounting-related tasks. This position will also cross-train with other team members to provide backup support as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage A/P invoices from overseas suppliers; assist A/P with issue resolution

• Maintain monthly/quarterly/year-end reporting logs for Japan HQ

• Prepare monthly payment schedules for wire/ACH processing

• Support annual external audits

• Create invoices for trial orders, non-inventory sales, and reimbursements

• Prepare journal entries (in-transit inventory, royalties, APR, sales, RMA, etc.)

• Generate monthly sales-by-parts data and investment reports

• Maintain exchange rate impact files and fiscal investment plan balances

• Liaise with Japanese coordinators and assist with travel, housing, and communication support

• Complete special projects as requested

Qualifications

• Cost Accounting experience
• Manufacturing accounting experience
• Bachelors degree in Accounting (or equivalent education/experience)
