Position Summary

GAC is seeking a CDL driver with a School Bus and Passenger endorsement, to support our needs for safe transport of students along our regular route bus(es), field trips and extrcurricular trips during the school day, afternoons and evenings, and on some occasional weekends. Follow the student calendar and enjoy being home when your kids are home!

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Drive students safely to and from school and special events, following designated routes and schedules.
• Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance; work hours may vary during the school year.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure the bus is in good working order; report maintenance needs promptly.
• Operates school bus by the laws of Georgia and follows the policies prescribed by the school under all types of weather conditions.
• Attends required training meetings, Orientation, State mandated safety meetings, and all other meetings as requested.
• Foster a safe, respectful environment for students on board by enforcing rules and responding to emergencies.
• Operates the bus without receiving a traffic violation or warning citation from law enforcement.
• Report delays, accidents, and unusual situations to Director and/or parent group.
• Keep accurate records, including fuel usage, trip reports, incident reports, and other required documentation.
• Maintain a clean bus, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for students and staff.
• Dress in professional and appropriate attire.
• Serve as a role model, demonstrating respectful and courteous behavior toward students, parents, staff, and the general public.

QUALIFICATIONS

• A minimum of 2 years of driving experience with an exemplary driving record (no more than 2 moving violations in the past 7 years).
• CDL required. GAC will provide and pay for all training for CDL with school bus certification.
• Dependable and reliable, with the ability to manage your time effectively and be punctual for all shifts.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact with students, parents, and staff in a positive manner.
• First Aid and CPR certification is a plus.
• Ability to contribute to the GAC community and embrace opportunities for ministry and service in a faith-based environment.
• Successful completion of a background check, drug/alcohol screening, and physical exam certifying your ability to drive a school bus.

CERTIFICATIONS

• CDL license with school bus certification is required. GAC will provide and pay for all training for new hires who do not have this license.
• First aid and CPR certification is desired.
• Completion of a physical certifying medical ability to drive a school bus.
• Successful completion of school bus driver training programs.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

• Successful background check, reference checking, and drug/alcohol screening clearance.
• Acknowledgment of and agreement with GAC’s Statement of Faith and Community Covenant.
