Expertise is required in the specific area of evaluation and management of Parkinson's disease, related disorders, and other movement disorders. Expertise in botulinum toxin injection, management of neurostimulators, and novel technologies related to clinical assessment, such as the use of advanced computing techniques to analyze clinical data or the implementation of digital health technologies, is preferred. Applicants must have an M.D. or equivalent degree and be board-certified or board-eligible in Neurology. Completion of a fellowship in Movement Disorders is also required.
Teaching responsibilities may include the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows, as well as formal lecture opportunities within the department.
Clinical responsibilities may include outpatient consultations and ongoing care of patients with Movement Disorders. Expertise with botulinum toxin injection and management of neurostimulators is strongly encouraged. Supervision of resident clinic and a minor component of inpatient care of general neurology patients (approximately 1-2 weeks per year) may be required. Clinical care will be primarily at Pennsylvania Hospital, but some coverage of satellite clinics in suburban locations may be available.
Research or scholarship responsibilities may include either an independent research program (e.g., K-series award leading to further independent funding) or an active collaborative role in integrated research programs. Participation as a site investigator in clinical trials is also an option. Publication in peer-reviewed journals is expected.
The University of Pennsylvania is an equal opportunity employer. Candidates are considered for employment without regard to race, color, sex, sexual orientation, religion, creed, national origin (including shared ancestry or ethnic characteristics), citizenship status, age, disability, veteran status or any class protected under applicable federal, state, or local law.
